Download a zero-byte .OSM file, or one of about 1 KB, for QA. Neither file is a real document.

About this Zero-byte .OSM file

What you get

empty.osm is 0 bytes. 1kb.osm is 1,024 bytes of filler text. Both use the OpenStreetMap Map name.

How to use it in QA

Attach either file where your product asks for a .OSM file. Use the empty file for a zero-length check, and the 1 KB file for a small non-empty upload. The download names stay empty.osm and 1kb.osm.

Zero-byte .OSM questions

What is inside the files?

empty.osm is empty. 1kb.osm is about 1 KB of filler text, not a real OpenStreetMap Map.

Will an app open them?

Most apps will report an empty or invalid OpenStreetMap Map. That is the point of the fixture.

Is the download safe?

Yes. Neither file has an executable payload.
