Zero-byte .INI Windows Initialization File

Download a zero-byte .INI file, or one of about 1 KB, for QA. Neither file is a real document.

About this Zero-byte .INI file

What you get

empty.ini is 0 bytes. 1kb.ini is 1,024 bytes of filler text. Both use the Windows Initialization File name.

How to use it in QA

Attach either file where your product asks for a .INI file. Use the empty file for a zero-length check, and the 1 KB file for a small non-empty upload. The download names stay empty.ini and 1kb.ini.

Zero-byte .INI questions

What is inside the files?

empty.ini is empty. 1kb.ini is about 1 KB of filler text, not a real Windows Initialization File.

Will an app open them?

Most apps will report an empty or invalid Windows Initialization File. That is the point of the fixture.

Is the download safe?

Yes. Neither file has an executable payload.
